TENSUNG

Home  /  About

We started as a knitting mill. That is still how we think.

Twenty years in knitted textiles, ten of them building underwear programmes for brands that need the fabric to behave exactly as specified — wash after wash.

Our story

From fabric supplier to full-package manufacturer

Yarn intake inspection at TENSUNG knitting mill

Yarn intake · every lot checked for count, twist and colour consistency

For our first decade we sold knitted fabric to garment factories in Zhejiang and Guangdong. We watched good fabric become mediocre underwear often enough to understand why: elastic tension set by feel, waistbands bonded at the wrong temperature, grading rules copied from a woven block.

In 2014 we started cutting and sewing ourselves. The point was never to become the biggest underwear factory in China — it was to close the gap between the fabric we knit and the garment that reaches a customer’s drawer.

Ten years on, TENSUNG runs seamless, cut-and-sew and bonded construction on the same site as its knitting hall, and the engineers who develop the fabric sit two floors above the sewing lines.

Four advantages that are hard to copy with a trading office

In-house underwear development and sampling centre

In-house development centre

A sampling room with its own knitting machines and coverstitch stations. Development samples are made by the people who will run the bulk.

TENSUNG textile engineers reviewing construction details

Engineers, not just merchandisers

Seven textile engineers and four pattern makers on staff, able to turn “softer but with more recovery” into a yarn blend and a stitch density.
